Below is the daily chart of total .ir domains during the month of Aug 2012.  As we see at end of July 2012 the total number of ir domains was 275,113 and on last day of August 2012 the total number of .ir domains has been increased to 282,836 . .ir ccTLD Whois Change : Showing expiry date

Starting July 22, 2012, whois policy for .ir domains will be changed and it will show the current expiry date of a domain. So far this information was only available for owner and reseller of the domain but now it will be similar to other gTLD whois and expiry date will be a public information on whois.

To get the whois information of a .ir domain, you may use whois.iranic.com .

.IR domain ownership transfer trough IraNIC

We have just added the functionality of domain ownership transfer for .IR domains. Domain ownership transfer costs half of the domain registration price. Currently at $12.50 .

Steps in Transfering an ownership of a .IR domain : 

Step 1 : (Seller) 
Seller needs to find out the PIN information of the domain and unlock the domain. If the domain is registered in iranic.com, seller can login to account, select the domain name and on the bottom of the page, he can ask for PIN information. The pin can take up to 12 hours to be emailed to the seller. Seller email this PIN to buyer. 

Step 2 : (Buyer)
Buyer needs to login to their iranic.com account, create a NIC handle (or use a currently used handle), then come to this Transfer page and enter the domain information + PIN information and also make the transfer fee payment. 

Step 3 : (Seller)
Seller receives an email from NIC.IR in 12 hours, to confirm the transfer. 

Step 4 : (Seller) 
Seller will receive an email asking for documentaion of the domain, seller should scan/email or fax the form agreeing to the transfer and should include the personal ID, if the domain under a personal name or the company ID, if the domain is currently under a company name. 

Transferring a domain to IraNIC and pay for renewals with common credit cards.

Common Question :

Can I renew a domain with IraNIC and pay online with common credit cards, even if they have registered it somewhere else ?

Yes you can.

These are the steps you have to make :

1- get the whois information of your domain and check who is the holder handle for the domain. You can the the who is at whois.iranic.com . generally the handles are in XY123-irnic format.

2- You should have the login information of your domain to NIC.IR main portal at www.nic.ir . After you login, you search for your domain. then select "Change Contacts"

3- You should change the reseller contact or billing contact of the domain to Iranic handle : ra50-irnic

4- Almost done .. then you should create a new account at www.iranic.com , enter your email address and select your country : iranic.com/signup

5- Once you enter your information go to "Domain Transfer" page and in the top box, enter your domain name.

6- In 'My Domains' Page you can click on your domain and continue to renew the domain using credit cards.



Notes :

• We suggest domain renewal of 5 years because its a greate saving and you will be protected and worry free for the longer period. 
• If the domain holder address is an Iranian address, you should select Iran as your country when you sign up a new Iranic account. You can still pay using common credit cards.
